First post in almost 10 months...

I thought this would be a good time to start blogging again...with happy news. I'm nearly 15 weeks pregnant....cautiously optimistic, as I've heard it said. I'm so excited, but still nervous as our last pregnancy ended in miscarriage.

How far along? 14w3d
Weight gain/loss: as of my OB appt last week, I'm up 3 1/2 lbs.
Maternity clothes? definitely...not much of my pre-PG stuff fits!
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep? Yes, please! Bedtime is usually between 8:00-8:30.
Best moment this week? NT results = normal range :) Last week we heard the baby's heartbeat again via doppler. So incredible!
Food cravings: peanut butter, dairy, French fries
Gender: not sure what my guess is
Belly button in or out? In
What I miss? diet soda, sushi, BEER!
What I'm looking forward to: next appointment is 3/2 and hopefully we can schedule our big ultrasound as well!
Weekly wisdom: Today I am pregnant, and I love my baby.
Milestones: hearing heartbeat on the doppler!

Eat This: Weight Watchers Layered Mexican Bean Dip

I'm all about trying to cut cals or carbs or whatever to, ultimately, cut the lbs. I found this recipe on the Weight Watchers website http://www.weightwatchers.com/food/index.aspx. I made for the first time for a Super Bowl party at my second dwelling--the Meyers'. My bitchu-buddy Matt loves it so much and was so upset that I made it when he was in Europe for his bachelor party. People don't believe that it's a WW recipe. It tastes naughty, and I am pro-naughty. It also looks awesome if you use a clear baking dish or bowl as the layers are visible. I always double the recipe because it goes so quickly! Try it, and thank me later :)

Layered Mexican Bean Dip

POINTS® Value: 2
Servings: 16
Preparation Time: 18 min
Cooking Time: 0 min
Level of Difficulty: Easy

Always a hit at parties, this dip is also great topped with diced bell peppers and shredded lettuce. Add jalapeno slices for extra heat.

Ingredients

16 oz fat-free canned refried beans
3 medium avocado, Hass, finely mashed
1/4 tsp table salt
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
1 cup(s) fat-free sour cream
2 tbsp Old El Paso Fajita Seasoning Mix, or other brand
1/2 cup(s) Weight Watchers Reduced Fat Shredded Mexican-Style Cheese
1 small tomato(es), chopped
2 medium scallion(s), sliced
10 medium olive(s), black, sliced or chopped
2 tbsp cilantro, fresh, chopped

Instructions

Spread beans evenly over bottom of a 9- X 13-inch glass baking dish or a medium-size glass bowl.
In a small bowl, combine avocado, salt and lemon juice. Spread avocado mixture over beans; top with sour cream.
Sprinkle fajita seasoning over sour cream layer. Next, layer remaining ingredients on top in order listed.
Serve immediately with jicama slices and other fresh vegetables (or baked tortilla chips--additional points) for dipping, or chill until ready to use.

Yields about 1/4 cup of dip per serving.

Watch This: "Make Me A Supermodel"

I'm a blogaholic now! Yay :) So in my opinion the best reality shows are ones that involve dance or fashion. Love "So You Think You Can Dance" and "What Not To Wear"....ooh, and can't wait for "Project Runway" to commence this summer. I discovered "Supermodel" on Bravo (http://www.bravotv.com/make-me-a-supermodel), and it's uber-addictive. Good-looking people competed for a modeling contract. Simple enough. There is some drama, but nothing overwhelming. My fave competitor is Salome, a former Mennonite who is killin' it. Tall, doe-eyes, no idea about life outside of her Southern hometown--she's great. The most entertaining is probably Branden. He really thinks he's the shiz. Check out what the pouty egomaniac blogs this week after judges (including THE Catherine Malandrino) cut Colin. http://www.bravotv.com/make-me-a-supermodel/blogs/branden/no-brains-left
Jonathan's pretty hot--looks sort of like a working man's David Beckham, but with more of masculine voice. God, his voice almost ruins it for him! Anyway, check it out. Tyson Beckford hosts, and he's freakin' fab. I DVR it b/c of previous TV commitments, lol, but Bravo often runs marathons on Sundays. Nothing like a four-hour block of freakishly tall, emaciated wannabe models to push you over that precipice into a carton of Chunky Monkey.

Thank you for being a friend....

Buy This: Bump-It

Okay, I admit that I'm a slave to trends. Remember like five years ago when woven poncho sweaters were so popular? I bought 5. Gaucho pants? Check. So who's surprised that as soon as I saw the Bump It advertised on TV I had to buy it? After much online debate with my cyber-BFFs F & A, we bought a complete set from eBay. Oh, I love the BumpIt. Check out the fabulously cheesy video clip on the website: http://www.bumpits.com/. I wish I had some pics to display how good your hair actually looks with BumpIt....I'll post when I get my Rock-The-Dress photos back from K.

PS Rock-The-Dress, you inquire? Check out my talented wedding photog/friend-for-life Krisha Martzall. She's the poo, people. Take a big whiff. http://www.krishamartzall.wordpress.com/. In closing, here's one of K's photos from my wedding.

Listen: Zack Brown Band

I think some people are surprised I listen to country music. My iPod shuffles from Rob Zombie to NKOTB, so you should probably acknowledge that I love it all. Zack Brown Band is one of those bands you would have difficulty classifying. Although they're played mainly on country stations (if you're in Central PA, northern MD check out WGTY Great Country 107.7 http://www.wgty.com/) ZBB is sort of a mash-up of DMB, Kenny Chesney, Marshall Tucker Band (maybe their band name inspiration?) and Lynryd Skynryd. Their first single, "Chicken Fried," is a twangy country joint ("You know I like my chicken fried/Cold beer on a Friday night/A pair of jeans that fit just right/And the radio up"), but their follow-up, "Whatever It Is" is harder to pigeonhole into a genre. It's got a definite country feel, but feels jam-band as well. My recommendation: download "Free." It's amazing, really showcasing Brown's voice. Make sure to get the violin intro as well--it's crazy-good.

I'm blogging, so you better listen!

So I'm finally blogging. I saw my HS English teacher tonight and she seemed surprised I wasn't doing anything English or writing-related. I'm blogging: does that count? Prepare yourself for random. Music, style, movies, sports--I'll discuss it all.
